Jim Griffith

James Edward €œJim€ Griffith, 62, of Robinson, IL died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born February 24, 1950 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Carl & Alberta Bright Griffith. An NCHS graduate, Jim was a self-employed contractor and former Marathon transport driver. He farmed for many years in Jasper County. Jim was a member of the Jasper County Board & School Board, as well as Crawford County ABATE. He was a 4H leader as well as the youth group leader at White Oak Christian Church, of which he was a member.Jim married Patricia Westjohn on August 6, 1997 and she survives. He previously married Linda King on June 19, 1971 and had two children from that marriage, Brian & Melisa Griffith (Hidalgo, IL) and Dora Griffith (Newton, IL); his step-son Joshua Croft (Highlands Ranch, CO); two grandsons, Clayton Woodard & Cameron Griffith; his step-granddaughter, Emily Croft; his mother, Alberta Finn (Newton); his brother Carl & Judy Griffith (rural Newton), his sister Sharon & Kenny Tate (Newton), and his brother Johnny & Verna Griffith (Newton); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie and sisters Linda & Shirley; his father; his step-son, Justin Croft.Memorials services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with his friend Steve Greiner conducting the service. Burial will be in Songer Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund.
