Jo Etta York, 71, of Hutsonville, IL, died at 9:06 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born July 26, 1945 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Leslie Durwood Plew & Nina Ruth (York) Plew, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Plew, Jr. She married David York on April 15, 1972, and he survives. She is also survived by her children, Ronald Eugene York (Hutsonville, IL) and Gina Lynn York (Centralia, IL); by her granddaughter & husband, Emilee & Philip Garner (Robinson, IL); by her great-grandson, Dwaine Garner (Robinson, IL); by her brothers & sisters-in-law, Bill & Denise Plew (Hutsonville, IL) and Donnie & Jackie Plew (Hutsonville, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Jo Etta was a 1964 graduate of Hutsonville High School, and went on to work as a school bus driver for Hutsonville and Palestine School Districts for 17 years. Away from work, she could often be found crafting, which fueled her creative spirit. She was a member of the Hutsonville United Methodist Church. Jo Etta will long be remembered for the love and dedication she gave to her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Burial will follow in the Hutsonville Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hutsonville United Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
