Joann Thompson

JoAnn Thompson, 83, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born June 1, 1931 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Victor Ashley & Marjorie Lindley Ashley. She was the secretary for the Robinson Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years. JoAnn was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa sorority for several years and was a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Robinson. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially during the snowy winter months. JoAnn married Carol Thompson on December 7, 1979 and he preceded her in death on September 14, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffrey Scott Walls; her daughter, Vicki King; her sister, Roberta Ashley; and her uncles, Fred Ashley and William Ashley. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Rick & Rhonda Walls (Dallas, TX), Kevin & Peggy Walls (Flat Rock, IL), Kathy Xanders (Robinson, IL); her two step-sons & daughters-in-law, Steve & Joy Thompson (Albuquerque, NM) and Brad & Angela Thompson (Marshall, IL); 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as her son-in-law, Roger King, Annapolis, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Rev. Bessie Adams to officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Robinson New Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Auten Center of the United Methodist Village or to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
