John E. Hussey, 85, Flat Rock, Illinois passed away in the comfort of his home on July 15, 2014 at 11:45 AM. He was born June 7, 1929 in Lawrenceville, the son of Louis Hussey and Clara Burrell Hussey. He worked for Texaco and Indian Refinery as a foreman steelman. He was a member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge # 250, Flat Rock American Legion, Robinson VFW, Danville Consistary 32 degree, a past Crawford County Shrine Club President, past Crawford County Honor Guard President and member of Ainad Shrine. He was a precinct committeeman of Honey Creek Township. He owned and operated the Flat Rock Grocery and was an avid Democratic. He proudly served his country in the 182nd Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. He married Joan Miller on February 25, 1955 and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2008. He is survived by his four sons; David and Linda Hussey, Scott and Karla Hussey, Mark and Sarah Hussey all of Flat Rock, IL and Matthew and Vicki Hussey of Lawrenceville, Several grand and great grandchildren, two brothers; Fred and Jean Hussey, Bridgeport, Paul and Dottie Hussey, Lawrenceville, one sister Doris Green, Lawrenceville, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, a daughter Mindy Buchanan and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock with Jason Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00PM Friday with a 7:00PM Masonic service. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
