John W. "Jack" Sims

John W. “Jack” Sims, age 86, passed away on December 1, 2016 at the home of his son, James Sims in Robinson, IL. He was born December 27, 1929 in Sullivan, IN, the son of Gerald & Lucille (Mason) Sims, who owned the General Store in New Lebanon, IN. They both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lois (Jennings) Sims and by his second wife, Patricia Sims. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He went on to work for Marathon Oil Company for 35 years before retiring in 1988. He was the president and co-owner of Autovend Manufacturing in Indianapolis, IN for 15 years before relocating to Winter Haven, FL in 2003. Here, he worked as a real estate agent and stayed active until his health declined this past spring. He was a member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250 and Robinson Elks #1188 Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Marjorie & Rex Townsend (Indianapolis, IN); his son & daughter-in-law, James & Kathryn Sims (Robinson, IL); and his sister, Sara Jones (Sullivan IN). Grandchildren include Jennifer & Bart McKee (Robinson, IL), Justin & Tania Sims (Indianapolis, IN), and his adopted grandson, Harley Sims (Winter Haven, FL). Also surviving are his three great-grandchildren, Mason McKee (Robinson, IL), Marley McKee (Robinson, IL), and Henry Sims (Indianapolis, IN); and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Military rites are to be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #4549, followed by a Masonic service provided by the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250. Tom Akers will officiate the celebration service. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until time of the celebration. A private family graveside service will be held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle, IN at a later date. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Transportation Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
