Joyce Maxine Ramsey

Joyce Maxine Ramsey, 83, of Palestine, IL, died at 2:59 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born February 13, 1932 in Hardinville, IL, the daughter of Charles Edward Lamb & Georgia Marie (Reynolds) Lamb, both of whom preceded her in death. Joyce married Everett G. Ramsey, Sr. on December 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, William Silas Fear; one granddaughter; two brothers, Gerald Lamb and Charles “Chuckie” Lamb (in infancy); and one sister, Betty Milam. Joyce is survived by her three sons & daughters-in-law, Terry D. & Doris K. Ramsey (Robinson, IL), Everett G. 'Butch' & Kathy Ramsey (Palestine, IL), and Steven J. & Becky Ramsey (Palestine, IL); seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; her brother & sister-in-law, Keith & Pat Lamb (Robinson, IL); as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Joyce was a 1950 graduate of Robinson High School. She went on to work for L.S. Heath & Sons for several years before retiring from Leaf in 1992. In her free time, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She could often be found reading or crocheting and was a longtime member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church. Joyce will be remembered for her love of John Wayne and the love and care she gave to her family. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd at the funeral home with Rev. Dwight McDaniel officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
