Karlette R. Morgan

February 27, 1953 — November 3, 2025

Karlette R. Morgan, 72, of Casey, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at Heartland Nursing Home in Casey.

Born on February 27, 1953, in Palestine, Illinois, she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Pauline (Neeley) Sanders, both of whom preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Bernard Morgan, on June 21, 1975, and they shared 48 wonderful years together before his passing on August 13, 2023. She was also preceded in death by their beloved son, Brent Morgan.

A 1971 graduate of Oblong High School, Karlette carried her small-town values of kindness, hard work, and family with her throughout life. For 25 years, she worked at Arndt’s Store and greenhouse in Casey, where she not only greeted customers like friends and built countless community connections, but she also shared her love and knowledge of gardening with others. Later, she found joy in working as a teacher’s aide at Casey-Westfield Schools, where her gentle heart and encouraging words touched the lives of many children.

Karlette was a woman who poured her love into everything she did—especially when it came to her family. She was the “mother hen” of the family. She did her best to keep up with her siblings and nieces and nephews through phone calls and the yearly family reunions she planned. It was important to her that group pictures were taken and that those memories were preserved for future generations.

Her home was a reflection of her creativity and warmth. She loved crafting and tending to her flower garden, finding peace in the simple beauty of blooms and handmade treasures. In her younger years, she was known for hosting 4th of July celebrations—complete with good food, laughter, and a house full of family and friends.

Karlette adored her daughters and grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, whether it was sharing stories, attending events, or simply enjoying each other’s company. The love she had for them was unwavering and unconditional.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Greg Rich of Flat Rock, Illinois, and Haley and Eric Honselman of Casey, Illinois; her grandchildren, Nathan Rich, Abby Rich, Kelli Honselman, and Clay Honselman; her sisters, Sharon Hale of Flat Rock, Illinois, and Roberta (Gibson) Quinn of Robinson, Illinois; her brothers, Verl Sanders of Flat Rock, IL, Elwin (Ann Marie) Sanders of Monroe, Georgia, and Byron (Kim) Sanders of Oblong, Illinois; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Debbie & Brad Daugherty, David & Ruth Morgan, and Mike Morgan; and by several nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her love and kindness.

Karlette’s life was a beautiful example of faith, family, and the joy found in simple moments together. Though she will be deeply missed, she will be remembered for the warmth and togetherness she brought to her family.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of the arrangements.
