Keith "Swanee" Griffin

Keith €œSwanee€ Griffin, 88, of rural Robinson, died at 10:05 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home. He was born July 1, 1923 in Westphalia, Kansas, the son of Delbert Lantz Griffin and Sarah Margaret Art Griffin. Keith worked as a dairy herdsman for Trimble Farms until he retired at age 75. He was a member of the Robinson Moose Lodge, Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, and the American Jersey Cattle Club.Swanee is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Leslee Manhart (Robinson) and Jeri & William Manhart (Piper City, IL); his two sons and daughters-in-law, John & Marian Griffin (Dayton, OH) and Lantz & Mary Ann Griffin (Robinson); his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joann Griffin (Bayfield, CO), 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.He married Katheryn Bruce in September 1947 and she preceded him in death in March 1977. He married Dorothy Knapp Inboden in November 1990 and she preceded him in death in February 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jim Griffin; 2 daughters, Karen Horn and Linda Griffin; 1 brother, John Tommy Griffin; and his sister-in-law, Marjorie Griffin.Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Rev. David Hyde officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 16th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Trimble Bible Church or to Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
