Kelley E. Weger, 91, of Robinson, IL died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 12:50 a.m. at Crawford Memorial Long Term Care. He was born December 17, 1921 in Flat Rock, IL to Ira €œDail€ Weger and Kate Williams. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Bronze Star for his efforts. Back home, he worked for Marathon as a lease operator for several years until retiring in 1983. Kelley loved to fish, and also had a passion for sports. As a young man, he was a member of the ball team that won the Wabash Valley Tournament. In the years following, he played softball at the ball diamond in Flat Rock. In his later years, he enjoyed watching youth play baseball at the Robinson City Park. Kelley was an active member and a Deacon Emeritus of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Flat Rock. He married Emma Jean Johnson on January 24, 1942 and she preceded him in death on August 22, 2000. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel K. Weger; as well as one brother and one sister. He is survived by his children, two daughters, Karen J. Dobbs (Salem, IL) and Colleen & Calvert Harvey (Philadelphia, PA); his son Kelley Kirk & Debi Weger (Terre Haute, IN); his grandson, Kevin & Terri Goodwin (Lanesville, IN), his granddaughters Kelley Kay & Shawn Magill (Terre Haute, IN) and Michelle & Dan Weger (Robinson, IL); his step-granddaughter, Kim & Brad Smith (Panama City Beach, FL); 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as his sister, Bertha Jones (Robinson, IL). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Pastor Reedman Vaught officiating the service. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Carmi Baptist Children€™s Home or to the Flat Rock First Missionary Baptist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
