Kenneth Charles Banning

Kenneth Charles Banning, 81, of Robinson, IL, died at 10:50 a.m. (EST) on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born on February 11, 1938 in Oblong, IL, the son of Milo Banning & Rachel (Miller) Banning, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and his sister. He married Nancy Ruth Bradbury on May 31, 1964 and she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Doug Banning (Robinson, IL) and Todd Banning (Chattanooga, TN); by his sister, Mary Ruth Yager (Springfield, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962. He worked for Illinois Department of Corrections as a sergeant until retirement. His later years found him working for First Financial Bank as a courier. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found spending time with his family or enjoying a sci-fi movie or John Wayne film. He also spent quite a bit of time reading his Bible. A man of faith, Kenneth was a longtime member of the Duncanville Baptist Church. Though we who are left behind will miss him, we do not grieve as those without hope. He is experiencing resurrected life alongside his Savior and all those in the faith who have gone before him. One day, we’ll have the opportunity to share in this eternal communion as well. Until then, we’re left here, but with a sense that there is so much more waiting for us on the other side. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th at the funeral home with Pastor J.D. Branson and Pastor Jeff Monroney officiating. Burial will be in the Bradbury Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Duncanville Baptist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
