Kevin Matthews

Kevin Matthews, 60, of Flat Rock, IL died at 9:40 p.m. on March 1, 2015. He was born June 9, 1954 in Carmi, IL, the son of Byron James Matthews & Patricia (Miller) Matthews Hotsenpillar. He was a bright young man who rose up to be an Eagle Scout. He served his country in the U.S. Marines. He worked for Briggs Pottery for many years before it closed. After the pottery closed, Kevin drove a truck for several years, and recently transported RVs for a company in Indiana. He was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion. He is survived by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Mark & Jean Matthews (Robinson, IL) and Chris & Kathie Hotsenpillar (Robinson, IL); his nieces & nephews, Lisa Paddock (Robinson, IL), Laura & Dan Gallion (Robinson, IL), Travis & Shandy Matthews (Annapolis, IL), Amanda & Scott Hargrave (Hutsonville, IL), Kelly & Ryan Bryant (Robinson, IL), Lacee Jo & Luke Hightshoe (Robinson, IL) and Colt & Samantha Hotsenpillar (Robinson, IL) and his good friends Rick & Greta Tracy (Flat Rock, IL). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Patrick Matthews. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th at the Jones Cemetery in Flat Rock. Memorials may be made to the Flat Rock American Legion, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
