Kindal Jo Wernz Kivisto

Kindal Jo Wernz Kivisto, 29, of Chicago, IL, formerly of West Union, IL, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. She was born September 24, 1986 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Don & Mona Mehler Wernz. She married Michael Kivisto on February 28, 2015 and he survives. She is also survived by her parents, Don & Mona Wernz (West Union, IL); by her grandparents, Bob & Dorothy Wernz; by her sister, Tabi & Mike Knecht; by her brother, Dustin & Julia Wernz; by her nieces & nephews, Dakota Knecht, Kienan Knecht, Alex Wernz, and A.J. Wernz; by her uncles & aunts, John & Linda Wernz, Les & Karen Wernz, Barbara & John Webster, Mark & Joy Wernz, Gretchen & Dick Wilk, Tony Mehler, P.K. & Garry Stepp, Lou Brinkman & Sam Durbin, and Doc & Tracy Mehler; by her mother-in-law & father-in-law, Celia & Bob Kivisto; and by her brothers-in-law, Ben Kivisto and Iggy Mwela; as well as several cousins. Kindal was a 2005 graduate of Hutsonville High School and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Illinois with a degree in Community Health. She worked in digital marketing at AOL in Chicago for over three years. Her free time was spent traveling, having made trips to Peru, Europe, and Croatia in recent years. She will long be remembered for her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh, and the way she lit up a room. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. (Central) on Monday, October 12th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (Central) on Tuesday, October 13th at the funeral home with Ray Piersall officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Ohio Cemetery in rural West Union. Memorials may be made to the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
