Leilani "Lee" Hartley, 82, of Robinson, IL, died on September 17, 2021, at Richland Manor in Olney, IL. She was born December 29, 1938, in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Michael & Rose McCormick, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Richard Hartley in 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Gabrielle Dorn on May 28, 2018. She is survived by three sons & a daughter-in-law, Jerry & Pauline Hartley (West Greenwich, RI), Victor Hartley (Robinson, IL), and Lloyd Hartley (Poughkeepsie, NY); by one daughter, Kimberly Rose Hartley (Hudson, NY); by eight grandchildren; and by her brother, Michael McCormick (Seattle, WA). Lee was, by all accounts, a free spirit. She was something of a hippie in her youth and was drawn to the music of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. The truths in their lyrics resonated deeply with her, as did the beauty of the ocean. The wife of a Navy man, Lee and her family had the good fortune of living seaside in Key West, San Diego, Washington, Rhode Island, even Cuba and Scotland! This kind of living satisfied her innate sense of wanderlust while opening her eyes to different cultures and ways of life. Throughout her 82 years, it was evident that Lee Hartley lived on her own terms. May we find that same tenacity of spirit within us, allowing our lives to become this dear woman's legacy. It was Lee's wish to be cremated without public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
