Leonard L. Schernekau, Jr.

Leonard L. Schernekau, Jr, 86, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL. He was born October 15, 1925 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Leonard L. Schernekau and Lucia Ann Jones Schernekau. He served in the U. S. Navy during Korea. He owned Schernekau Construction from 1958-2001 and the Robinson Service Center which he purchased in the 1960€™s. He was a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge # 1188, the Otterbein United Methodist Church, served on the Robinson City Council for Ward 4, and was a Scout Leader for Troop # 328.Leonard married Betty Lou Price on August 18, 1946 and she preceded him in death on August 29, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Barbara Lynn Schernekau; and his sister, Betty Martin.He is survived by 2 sons and his daughter-in-law, Lenny and Marcy (Price) Schernekau, Robinson, and Joe Schernekau, Robinson; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Schernekau, Robinson; 3 grandchildren, Reggie Schernekau, Robinson, Jessy and his wife, Heather Schernekau, Robinson, Tonya and her husband, Mike Ballard, Las Vegas, NV; 2 great grandchildren, Morgan Turner and Jordan Schernekau; and his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jack Kaley, Bement.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at the funeral home. Military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine Am Vets Post 33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the Robinson V. F. W.
