Leonard Paul Gullett, 89, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 5:13 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Heritage Health in Robinson. He was born May 23, 1927 in Palestine, the son of Robert Gullett & Versa Opal (Abbott) Gullett, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Gullett. He married Anita Ruth Cannon on January 2, 1948, and she survives. He is also survived by his sister & brother-in-law, Donna & Dennis Harrison (Palestine, IL); by his special nieces and nephew, Ron & Debby Newlin (Hutsonville, IL), Lanette & Rusty Huddleston (Newton, IL), and Twyla & Jim Bailey (Robinson, IL); as well as several other nieces and nephews. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Back home, he went to work on the farm and also spent many years on the road as a truck driver. Away from work, he loved spending time outdoors, gardening and mowing. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Memorial services will follow and will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday with his niece Lanette Huddleston officiating the service. Burial will follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to Heritage Health, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
