Lillian Rae Stivers-Simmons, 81 of Fort Myers, FL, died at 11:24am, Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, FL with her family by her side. She was born on November 3, 1931, in Robinson, Illinois to Rex and Alta Stivers, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kyle William, a sister, Kate Nugent and a brother, John Stivers. On June 26, 1949, she married Russell Simmons, Fort Myers, FL, and he survives. Also surviving her is her daughter, Kelly Johnson and son-in-law, Stuart Johnson,Fort Myers, FL; granddaughter, Jennifer DeCicco and her husband, Kyle, both of Fort Myers, FL; and her granddaughter, Leslee Harms currently living in Colorado Springs, CO; her sister, Roberta Stewart, Robinson, IL; as well as her sister-in-law, Nancy Stivers, Mansfield, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.Lillian graduated from Robinson High School in 1949 and soon after she began working at Davidson Oil. Later she worked as an Executive Secretary for L.S. Heath & Sons and was Co-owner of Century 21 Simmons Realty in Robinson, with her husband, Russ. Upon moving to Fort Myers, FL in 1987, she was a Realtor for Rawlings Realty, Fort Myers, FL.Lil was a very accomplished seamstress, creating and making the most beautiful clothing for her granddaughters when they were small. Every family member has at least one of her beautiful handmade afghans to keep them warm. She truly was an exceptional lady and will be forever missed.Lil€™s greatest love was her family. Her memory will be treasured and remembered always.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and American Lung Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
