Lois Simms-Voorheis, 87, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:20 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Magnolia Center in Robinson. She was born October 20, 1927 in Seymour, IN, the daughter of Bruce Noblitt & Nell Findley Noblitt. Lois married Gerald Simms on October 8, 1954 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She married John Voorheis on January 14, 2005, and he survives. She is also survived by her three children, Jeri Gayle Simms-Masters & husband Ed (Midway, UT), Joni Johnson & husband Erik (Maple Valley, WA), and Jeffrey Simms & wife Amy (Bothell, WA); Geneva Ragon (Robinson, IL), Paul Noblitt & wife Ann (Caulfield, MO), Gale Noblitt & wife Ruby (Mossyrock, WA), Kay Pye & Bob Tuttle (Hutsonville, IL), Chloe Rae Pearce & husband Tom (Hutsonville, IL); as well as several step-children, beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Lois was a 1946 graduate of Hutsonville High School. She worked at the Merom Institute for a time before moving to Portland, OR and Seattle, WA, where she worked as secretary/treasurer for her family’s commercial hardware business. After retiring, she moved to Randle, WA before moving to Robinson in 2005. In her free time, Lois enjoyed gardening, and was well-known for having a green thumb. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to historic Civil War battlegrounds, and was also an excellent cook and a beautiful singer. Her selfless, loving nature will be missed by all who knew her. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th at the Highland Church of Christ in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10th at the church with Pastor Shane Bopp officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Hutsonville Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the church and funeral home.
