Loren W. Ramsey, Sr., 65, of Palestine, IL, died at 5:42 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at his home. He was born July 27, 1949 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Hugh Ramsey & Kathryn Staten Ramsey. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He ran a produce market in Palestine for several years and was also a truck driver. He was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 and of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549. Loren was a longtime member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church. Loren married Ernestine “Skeet” Daugherty on March 18, 1973, and she survives. He is also survived by his children: two daughters & sons-in-law, Dee & Danny Stifle (Robinson, IL) and Darlene & Jeff Calvert (Lawrenceville, IL); his two sons and daughter-in-law, Danny Ramsey (Bridgeport, IL) and Loren, Jr. “Sonny” & Lori Ramsey (Palestine, IL); 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his brother & sister-in-law, Cleon “Bud” & Geneva Ramsey (Bedford, IN); his sister & brother-in-law, Erleen & Paul Ervin (Palestine, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and a brother in infancy; his grandson, Timothy Joe Watts, Jr; and his great-grandson, Bentley Mockler. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 5th at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Gray officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine, with the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549 giving military rites. Memorials may be made to the Pilgrim Holiness Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
