Lucy Dunlap Eveland Carver, 91, of Palestine, IL, died at 6:35 a.m. (EST) on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born May 30, 1923 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Barton Dunlap & Melvina Martin Dunlap. Lucy operated Carver’s Farmer’s Market in Palestine for several years and also worked at the caf at Gordon Junction for a time. She enjoyed many years volunteering at the clothing center. She was a member of the Palestine Fraternal Order of Eagles #3329 and Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549 Auxiliaries. She married Max Carver in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Roscoe Eveland; her parents; her daughter, Patsy Kirk; her two sons, Chuck Eveland and Everett Eveland; and 16 brothers & sisters. Lucy is survived by her children & their spouses, Joyce & Jerry Rigg (FL), Darrell & Bertha Eveland (Atwood, IL), Sandee & Richard Mitchell (Attica, IN), and Melody Ramsey & Miguel Villa (Robinson, IL); 16 grandchildren; as well as several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, with Russell Shotwell to officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
