Mabel Piersall

Mabel Piersall, 88, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Brookstone Estates in Robinson. She was born November 23, 1927 in Claremont, IL, the daughter of Ray D. Pauley & Edna Roney Pauley, both of whom preceded her in death. Mabel married Leo James Piersall, Sr. on November 20, 1947, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joseph Piersall; her three brothers, Fern Pauley, Millard Pauley, and Escoe Pauley; her sister, Ethel Wittsman; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters & sons-in-law, Karen & John Sandberg (Wolcottville, IN) and Debra & Tom McGlothlen (Edelstein, IL); two sons & daughters-in-law, Jim & Jolly Piersall (Indianapolis, IN) and Ray & Janie Piersall (Hutsonville, IL); 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard Pauley (Sumner, IL); two sisters, Rose Kimpling (Washington, IL) and Elzanna Lanter (Mattoon, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Mabel was a 1945 graduate of Olney High School. She held many jobs over the years, but she was, first and foremost, a homemaker and caretaker. The entirety of her life was spent serving those around her. The Piersall home was open to anyone in need, and she will long be remembered for the care she gave to others without thought of herself. Mabel will also be remembered for her fantastic cooking and for her love of putting on garage sales. She was a charter member of the Crawford County Christian Center, where she was a very active member. Her family and her community have truly lost a one-of-a-kind soul. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. on 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 4th at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in rural Annapolis, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to either Crawford County Christian Center or to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
