Marjorie E. Miller, 96, of Palestine, IL, died at 2:49 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Belleville Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. She was born November 11, 1917 in Lawrenceville, IL, the daughter of Frank B. Gosnell and Alta J. Bach Gosnell. Marjorie was a teacher having taught in Hillsboro, Palestine and Lawrenceville schools. She attended E. I. U. and was a member of the Palestine First United Methodist Church. She resided in Lebanon the last several years with her daughter. Marjorie married Clarence E. Miller September 5, 1941 and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Martha E. Roy, Lebanon, IL; 2 grandsons, John M. and his wife, Stefanie Roy, Swansea, IL and Patrick D. Roy, O'Fallon, IL; 4 great grandchildren, Julia, Brenden, Katelynn and Ryan Roy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Maurice E. Gosnell and Frank M. Gosnell; a sister in infancy; and her son-in-law, John D. Roy III. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Pastor Jane Drake officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26th at the funeral home. Memorials made be to the First United Methodist Church, to the Harper House, or to the Fife Opera House with envelopes available at the funeral home.
