Marjorie R. Mccrillis

Marjorie R. McCrillis, 89, of Palestine, IL, died at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born August 18, 1925 in West York, IL, the daughter of Raymond Melton & Ruby Hicks Melton. She worked as a clerk for Brown's Jewelry for four years, as well as the Robinson IGA for four years. She also worked at Phillippee Grocery for a time, as well as Bertram’s Pharmacy and Marshall TRW. She was a member of the Palestine 1st United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed attending her husband’s dance band The Music Makers, bowling, watching her kids play sports, embroidery, and spending time with her family. Marjorie married Gerald Reid McCrillis on April 5, 1942, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eulalee Pinkstaff; her brother, Harry Gene Melton; and a granddaughter, Brittney Biernbaum. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Roger & Mary Ellen McCrillis (Bowie, MD), Alice Ann & Steve Wills (Sullivan, IN), Steve & Becky McCrillis (Palestine, IL), Phoebe Biernbaum (Robinson, IL), and; seven grandchildren, Jon & Emily McCrillis, Matthew McCrillis, Beth Ann & Rob Bray, Doug & Dawn Wills, Tyler McCrillis, Evan McCrillis & fiance Hillary Steffy, and Erika Biernbaum; several great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24th, with burial following in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made the PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
