Marlene J. Houser Russell, 79 of Robinson, formerly of Palestine, IL died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born January 18, 1933, in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Max Houser and Bernice (Moore) Houser. She was a graduate of the Saint Francis School of Nursing, Peoria, IL. Marlene was a registered nurse, having worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital and the Crawford Memorial Hospital. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Palestine, Royal Neighbors, and the Pleasant View Women€™s Fellowship. She loved to help people and to quilt.Marlene married John Russell on February 10, 1957 and he preceded her in death on August 18,1993. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pattie; an infant son; her parents; her sister, Marilyn Wesner; and her brothers, James Houser and Joe Houser.She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Russell, Palestine; a granddaughter and her husband, Shannon and Jeremy Rogers, Warren, IN; a great granddaughter, Taylor Rogers, Warren, IN; a sister, Barbara Hanley, Ft. Dodge, IA; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the funeral home.
