Marshall D. Pierson, 83 of Lawrenceville, IL, died at 1:22 a.m. (e.s.t.) Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born October 21, 1926 in Heathsville, IL, the son of Roy C. Pierson and Nora Higgins Pierson.Marshall was a retired farmer and had driven a truck for several years for Sheehan Co. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific and during the Korean War. He was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.He married Martha Waggoner on July 18, 1959 and she preceded him in death on February 28, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and 4 sisters, Mary Beasley, Eileen Adams, Pauline Richards, and Melvia Pierson.Survivors include his daughter, Eileen Pierson and her fianc, Scott Pfoff, Lawrenceville; 5 sons and daughters-in-law, James Leroy and Shelby Pierson, Seneca, SC, Manuel and Sandy Pierson, Ronoake, TX, Starr and Ruby Pierson, Hico, TX, Marshall Pierson, Jr., Lawrenceville, and John and Robin Pierson, Lawrenceville; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Norenia and Jerry Hope, Evansville, IN; his close friend, Leann Goodart; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Ronnie Crawford is officiating. Burial is in Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation is Tuesday from noon to service time at 2:00 p.m. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the combined units of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and the Amvets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132 with envelopes at the funeral home.
