Martha "Marty" Ann Decker

Martha “Marty” Ann Decker, 83, of Robinson, IL, died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born May 8, 1932 in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Thomas Gatewood & Virginia Morgan Gatewood. Marty married Herbert Decker in 1987, and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Steven & Joy Thompson (NM) and Brad & Angela Thompson (Marshall, IL); her step-son Gary & Liz Decker (Warsaw, IL); her grandchildren, Layne Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Erika Davis, Chelsea Hollingsworth, and Courtney Decker; her brother, Herbert Gatewood (Bonita Springs, FL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Marty found her life’s calling as an LPN, which she did passionately for almost 50 years, having worked at the Schmidt Clinic in Robinson for 26 years, the Ridgeview Care Center for 19 years and the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home for 4 years. She also ran Marty’s Produce in Robinson from 1980-1990. When she wasn’t busy at work, she spent most of her time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her incredible work ethic and for the selfless care she gave to others. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18th at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Gillaspy officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
