Mary A. Thompson, 89 of Robinson, IL, died at 9:40 p.m. (e.s.t.) Friday, August 28, 2009 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Carlisle, IN. She was born February 3, 1920 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Ray Siler and Maude Crampton. Mary worked as a retail clerk for over 30 years in various Robinson area stores, namely Roots, Fashion Shop, New Line, Tresslers, and Modo Day. She was a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to her music and played piano for over 60 years as the church pianist until just a few years ago. She also taught piano for nearly 40 years and loved all her students. She was also active in the Southern Baptist Association for many years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joy Dunlap, Lilburn, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jerry Sparks, Carlisle, IN; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Massey and her husband, Robert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Scott Dunlap and his wife Robin, Winder, GA, Brent Dees and his wife Kristina, Troy, IL, Ky Lynn Scott and her husband, Danny of Glenn Carbon, IL, Twain Chapman and his wife Jennifer, Oblong, Sean Chapman, Amy Goings and her husband Justin, all of Sullivan, IN. She has two step grandchildren, Mike Grap and his wife Monica, and Terri Carter all of Georgia. She has 8 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Dees in 1995.Funeral services are Wednesday, September 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Pastors Dwight McDaniel and Jerry McDaniel are in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1st at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Highland Avenue 1st Baptist Church with envelopes at the funeral home.
