Mary Alice Powell

Mary Alice Powell, 65, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Magnolia Center in Robinson, IL. She was born January 13, 1951 in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Jack Nissrod & Mary Johnson Nissrod, both of whom preceded her in death. She married William Everett Powell on January 5, 1973, and he preceded her on March 17, 2001. She is survived by her children & their spouses Amy & Lois Hollingsworth (Terre Haute, IN) and Kami & Roscoe Scott (Terre Haute, IN); by three granddaughters, Mary Jo Powell, Sierra Eaton, Della Scott; by her great-granddaughter, Verra McCoy; as well as her best friend and “adopted mother”, Nancy Banning. In her younger years, Mary took on the role of homemaker, and worked very hard to support her family in this way. As her children grew older, she started working for various local businesses, including the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, Jackel Inc, FairRite, as well as Hershey through ResourceMFG, where she worked in packaging for the last several years. Friends and family alike remember Mary as a hard and dedicated worker. She was a good, Christian woman who lived a genuine life of integrity. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27th at the funeral home officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mary Powell Memorial Fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Home”.
