Mary Christine Sager

Mary Christine Sager, 92, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:16 a.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong. She was born June 18, 1922 in Hutsonville, IL, the daughter of Omer Brigham & Bertha Jane Stark Brigham. She grew up in Hutsonville, and was a 1940 graduate of Hutsonville High School. Mary worked for Goodwine Home Furnishings in Palestine for several years before it closed. She will be remembered as being a very social person who enjoyed spending time with people. She also enjoyed traveling and watching basketball games. She was a woman of deep faith, and was a member of the 1st Christian Church of Palestine for many years. She also attended the Free Methodist Church in Robinson later on in life. Mary married Leonard F. Sager on December 28, 1946, and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Madge Fagin, Marjorie Stevenson, Emmadean Madsen, and Hazel Brigham; her brothers, John “Herman” Brigham, and Delbert Thomas Brigham; children in infancy, Dennis Sager and Amanda Sager; her granddaughter, Stephanie Webster; and her son-in-law, Charles “Dick” Correll. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Josette & John Ferris (Robinson, IL), Tom & Judy Sager (Robinson, IL), Myra & Don Jones (Robinson, IL); six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; her special cousin, Pat Woolverton; as well as several nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Adam Conder to officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Hutsonville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Palestine 1st Christian Church or to the Robinson Free Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
