Mary Frances Swartz

Mary Frances Swartz, 91, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Palestine, IL, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born January 14, 1924 in Sullivan, IN, the daughter of Jess McCammon & Janie Kimberlin McCammon, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Paul Swartz on November 20, 1979, and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Orlan McCammon and Gerald McCammon; by her sisters, Helen Martin, Doris Matheny and Naomi McCammon; and by her step-brother, Wesley McCammon. Mary is survived by her children & their spouses, Russell & Helen Dennis (Rockford, IL), Steven Dennis (Palestine, IL), and Paula Ann & Bob Ziegler (Rockford, IL); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters, Juanita Richards (Odessa, TX), Beulah & Bob Bowen (Palestine, IL), Shirley McCammon, Palestine; her brother, Pete McCammon (Palestine, IL); her brother-in-law, Bud Martin, Palestine; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary was an avid reader and also loved word puzzles. She will also be remembered for her love of gardening. She was a member of the American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary as well as an active member of the Palestine First United Methodist Church as well as the Pecatonica United Methodist Church. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
