Mary "Pauline" Sanders

Mary “Pauline” Sanders, 86, formerly of Oblong, IL, died at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Heritage Health Care, Robinson, IL.

Pauline was born January 23, 1929 in Columbine, WY the daughter of Carl and Golden Ruth (Gowin) Neeley. After the death of her mother she was raised by her grandmother Mary Ann Littlejohn and her Aunt June Gill as well as her stepmother Mabel Neeley.

Pauline married Robert Nathan Sanders of Hardinville, IL on July 8, 1947. They were married for over 50 years and had six children. She was a homemaker. Pauline enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Oblong Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Sharon (Matthews) Hale and husband Elmer (Flat Rock, IL), Karlette Morgan and husband Bernie (Casey, IL) and Roberta (Gibson) Quinn and husband Alex (Robinson, IL); three sons: Verl Sanders and wife Carol (East Grand Forks, MN), Elwin Sanders and wife Ann Marie (Jonesville, MI) and Byron Sanders and wife Kim (Oblong, IL). She is also survived by her sister, Betty Smothers (Oblong, IL); her sister-in-law, Cherry Neeley (Oblong, IL); 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; her aunt, Wanda Watts; several nieces and nephews; as well as her first great-great grandchild due in April.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her step-mother; her husband, Robert on January 20, 1999; her brothers Larry, Howard and Allen Neeley; her son-in-law, Patrick Matthews; and one great-grandson, Wyatt.

A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26th at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Watts officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Hardinville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice or to the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church of Oblong, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
