Maurice King

Maurice King, 84, of Hutsonville, IL, died at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He was born March 19, 1932 in Hutsonville, IL, the son of Ira King & Eva (Swinger) King, both of whom preceded him in death. Maurice married Shirley Pearce in 1955, and she preceded him in death on February 21, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, LeeAnn King; by his granddaughter, Tabatha Ikemire; by his sister, Jane Guess; by his brother, Marlin King; by his sister-in-law, Cheryl Pearce and by his daughter-in-law, Denise King. He is survived by his children & their spouses, Kristy King Burgess (Hutsonville, IL), Mike King (Hutsonville, IL), and Pat & Patty King (Hutsonville, IL); 8 grandchildren, Nicole & Eric Badger (Hutsonville, IL), Christopher & Dena Hardesty (Robinson, IL), Nicole King (Hutsonville, IL), Brianna King (Hutsonville, IL), Marc King (Flora, IL), and Ashlee & Andy Lomas (Olney, IL); twelve great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Maurice was a graduate of Hutsonville High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Back home, he worked hard, tending to the farm. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed woodworking and camping. A gun enthusiast, Maurice was a proud member of the NRA. He was both a member and a deacon at the Hutsonville First Christian Church. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24th at the Hutsonville First Christian Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation and will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Bill Wilkinson officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Hutsonville Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the VFW Transportation Fund, with envelopes available at the church and at the funeral home.
