Melba Colby, 85, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:24 p.m. (EST) on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born December 28, 1929 in Green County, IL, the daughter of Curtis Gibler & Mildred Price Gibler. She ran the New Line Shop for many years and was the district manager for Avon for a time. In her later years, she volunteered for Good Samaritan Hospice by cooking and visiting with many terminal patients and their families. Melba was an avid quilter and also enjoyed being outside, namely mowing her yard. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #46 in Sangamon County and was a member of the Palestine 1st Presbyterian Church after the Robinson 1st Presbyterian Church closed its doors. Melba married Wayne Colby on March 15, 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Marc Colby. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Kay & Dale Tye (Robinson, IL) and her granddaughter, Erinn Tye & fianc Joey Norman (Robinson, IL). A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
