Melissa L. Glenn

September 7, 1960 — February 1, 2018

Melissa L. Glenn, 57, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on February 1, 2018 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. She was born on September 7, 1960 in St. Louis, MO. She grew up in Flora, IN and was a 1978 graduate of Carroll High School in Flora. She went on to graduate from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in English Language and Literature. Following her graduation, she spent 15 years on the east coast before moving to Robinson, IL to work in the library and then moved to Carbondale to work as a supervisor in the Southern Illinois University college library. She returned to the Lafayette area, making it her home for the past 9 years with her beloved dog, Nadine. Melissa, or “Missie” as she was known locally, was a great lover of classic movies, and was especially enamored with Lena Horne, Greta Garbo, and Bette Davis. She was, by all accounts, an avid reader and had countless books in her personal library. She will long be remembered as a person who lived life her own way. She is survived by her father, Jim Glenn & his wife, Lee (Texas); by her aunts and uncles, Gary & Marie Randolph (Wake Forest, NC), Rosanne Glenn Ward (Indiana), and Jerry Chapman (Martinsville, IL); by her cousins, Randy Randolph (Chapel Hill, NC), Cheryl Davison (Oblong, IL), Mike & Pam Chapman (Annapolis, IL), and Mary Ann & Aaron Crome (Marshall, IL). She also had a very special “honorary” niece and nephew, Chris Albaugh and Shelby Harness; as well as three very close friends that helped her through the hard times, Gale Ann Downham, Theresa Brown and Tina Albaugh (all of Flora, IN); as well as her neighbors, the Rollins family, to whom her family owes a debt of gratitude. She was preceded in death by her parents, Scottie & Judy Chapman; by her grandparents, Kyle & Dora Randolph and Harry & Leota Chapman; and by her aunt, Carolyn Chapman. It was her wish to be cremated with private services to be held at a later date at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
