Michael J. MattinglyMichael J. Mattingly, 67, of rural Flat Rock, IL, died at 6:30 p.m. (E.S.T.) Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born July 23, 1942 in Effingham, IL, the son of John S. Mattingly and Mildred M. Schmidt Mattingly. He was a carpenter. Michael was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132 and an avid hunter, especially a coon hunter. He married Jennie E. Fouty in 1969 and she preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, James R., George H. and Patrick H. Mattingly; and 4 sisters, Evangline Potter, Francella Dhom, Kathleen Lavin, and Susette Oberlander.He is survived his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Mary Mattingly, Lerna; his grandson, Ross Mattingly; 2 brothers, John W. Mattingly, Olney and Francis Mattingly, Newton; and 3 sisters, Dorothy Bullen, Greenville, TN, Phyllis McClaskey, Dieterich, and Mildred Flottman, Bloomington, IL.Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock with cremation to follow.
