Michael D. Pethtel

Michael D. "Mike" Pethtel, 66, of Robinson, IL, passed away on October 23, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Mike was born on July 12, 1960, in Robinson, IL, to Duane Pethtel and Jean Currie. He grew up in Gary, Indiana, before moving to Crawford County, where he made his home. He worked as a pipefitter with Local #157 until his retirement in June of 2015.

He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed taking trips to small lakes with his good friend, Doug. He also enjoyed gardening, canning his own vegetables, and collecting just about anything that caught his eye.

Easygoing and blessed with a huge heart, Mike was the kind of person who would do anything to help someone in need. He attended Porterville Congregational Christian Church, where he was part of a church family that meant a great deal to him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his generous spirit, and the simple joy he found in everyday life.

He is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends, including his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oral & Betty Utterback, Lyle & Pat Currie, and Wilfred Pethtel & Nina Inboden Pethtel York.

A family guided graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7th, at the Robinson New Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
