Mike Fancil, 63, of Oblong died at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. He was born August 24, 1951 in Robinson, the son of William Fancil & Lillian Hayes Fancil. He spent many years in the oil field before becoming physically unable to work. In the years that followed, he spent much of his time helping those in need, whether it be driving people to appointments, volunteering to cook for various organizations, or delivering Christmas baskets to various local families. Mike was a very talented cook, and also enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping in his free time. He was a member of both V.F.W. Post #4549 & American Legion #69 Men’s Auxiliaries. Mike married Phyllis Fancil on August 27, 1997, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Marnie & Phil Inboden, Steven Fancil, Lorinda & Chris Dedrick, Carey & John Klein, Kim Osborn & Jason Lawhead, and Josh & Miranda Osborn; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ralph Fancil & JoAnn Collins, Dave Fancil & Anita Sego; his sisters, Judy Shields, Pam Goss, and Tammy & Mike Thompson; his brother-in-law, Kelly Johnson; as well as several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Fancil; and his sister, Catherine Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, with Pastor Lee Gurley officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th at the funeral home.
