Mike Murray of Oblong, IL, born on October 4th, 1946 in Vincennes, IN, passed away Monday, November 30th. He won the race to Heaven beating all who are reading this. He was accomplished in many ways. He graduated from Oblong High School in 1964 and soon after joined the United States Navy. He showed his love for his community by being on the Oblong School Board, volunteering as a volunteer fire fighter in Oblong, IL, and many more ventures that are just too numerous to be named. As an entrepreneur, he was one of the founding owners of Pioneer Labels, Inc. & Illiana Cores, Inc. He could be found many a day enjoying a ride on his Harley or watching his Bears beat Green Bay. He was father, family, & friend to many. His loss is our great sorrow, but he lives on in the many lives he touched. He is survived by his lovely wife of 46 years, Carol Murray. They have three daughters for whom he was extremely proud. Michelle (Tony) Hamilton of Oblong, IL, Niki (Travis) Huntsman of Indianapolis, IN, Aprille (Cory) Musgrave of Palestine, IL. His 5 grandchildren were his blessings & have never once doubted they were loved. Gabe Shonk & Taylor Hamilton of Oblong, IL, Parker & Noah Huntsman of Indianapolis, IN, & Carson Musgrave of Palestine, IL. Mike is also survived by a sister, Sharon Miller of Robinson, IL, a brother, Jim (Brenda) Murray of Kokomo, IN ,& four sister-in-laws: Sue Youngman of Oblong, IL, Becky (Danny) Mundhenk of Oblong, IL, Lorna (Phil) Freeman of Marshall, IL, & Cheryl Bumgardner of Greencastle, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents Herschel & Nadeane Murray. Forever loved, forever missed. We love you, #!@$-head. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A second visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5th at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Jeff Monroney officiating the service. Military honors will be performed by the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549 and will be held at the Hardinville Cemetery following the funeral. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Oblong Children's Home, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
