Mildred Irene Zielinski

Mildred Irene (Simons) Zielinski, 95, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:05 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 in the comfort of her home. She was born March 2, 1921 near Hardinville, IL, the daughter of James & Bernice (Ballard) Simons, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Ray Zielinski on June 22, 1964, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brother & sister-in-law, Charles & Marilyn Simons; and by her sister & brother-in-law, Hazel (Simons) & Otis Legg. She leaves behind her twelve nieces and nephews, Ron Legg & Sandy Dilger (Robinson, IL), Janet Legg (Robinson, IL), Barbara Simons (Jackson, MI), Patti & Jewel Couling (Concord, MI), Steve & Patsy Simons (Salt Lake City, UT), Lee “Bill” & Karen Simons (Carterville, IL), Mary Irene & Dan Iannicola (St. Louis, MO), Barbara & Mike Balling (St. Louis, MO), Jack & Jan Downey (St. Louis, MO), Mr. & Mrs. Don Downey (Imperial, MO), Tom & Annie Spiess (St. Louis, MO), and Bob Downey, Jr. (St. Louis, MO); several great-nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins and good friends. In 1942, she went to St. Louis to work for the war effort. She worked at Curtiss-Wright for three years. She then went on to work for Wagner Electric Corp for thirty-two years before retiring in April, 1977. She lived a good life, and had fun. She loved her friends, her family, flowers, and her pets. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Twilight services will follow and will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, with Pastor Fred White officiating the service. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Old Monroe, MO with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. Memorials may be made to either of Lincolnland Hospice or to Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
