Nakita “Kita” Jo Cohoon, 18, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:50 p.m. (EST) on Monday September 18, 2017 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born January 6, 1999 in Robinson, the daughter of Alfred Cohoon, Jr. & June Lee (Herrington) Cohoon-Bower, both of whom survive. She also survived by her beloved son, Marshall Dunlap (Robinson, IL); by her grandma, Phyllis Bice (Robinson, IL); by her sisters, Anita Cohoon & Brian Bailey (Robinson, IL), Nikki Cohoon & Adonus Dixon (Robinson, IL); by her half-sisters, Juanita Gibson (MS), Magen Bower (Flat Rock, IL), Faith Bower (Flat Rock, IL), and Veronica Bower (Flat Rock, IL); by her half-brothers, Ronald Cohoon (Canton, OH) and Timothy & Kaitlyn Bower (Vincennes, IN); by her nephews, Gabe Bailey and Kyson Dixon; by her niece, Ariah Dixon; by her special aunt, Mary Thompson (Palestine, IL); by her step-dad, Allen Bower (Flat Rock, IL); and by her good friend, Michael Finkbiner. She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Al Herrington; by her grandma, Betty A. Cohoon; by her sister, Amy Cohoon; and by a baby in infancy. Kita was born and raised in Robinson, where she attended school for most of her life. Anyone who knew her could attest to the fact that her son, Marshall meant the world to her, and that few things brought her more joy than simply spending time with him. She also loved spending time with her sisters, her nephews, and her niece. She truly enjoyed the outdoors, and was especially fond of camping and mudding. Though she was taken from us far too soon, the memory of Nakita Cohoon will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. In honor of Kita’s love of children, memorials may be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
