Nancy Littlejohn

Nancy Littlejohn, 80, of Robinson, IL, died on August 25, 2026, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.

Nancy was born on July 14, 1946, in Robinson, the daughter of Ralph Littlejohn and Lois Jane (Perry) Littlejohn. She grew up in Robinson and spent a portion of her adult life in Indiana before returning home to Robinson in the late 1970s.

Caring for others came naturally to Nancy, both at home and in the work she chose to do. She spent many years at Crawford Memorial Hospital, working on Magnolia Center, in the therapy department, and later in Home Health. It was there that Nancy spent much of her career doing what she did best—caring for people. For roughly twenty years, she went into the homes of patients who needed a little extra help, offering practical care along with the patience, kindness, and compassion that came so naturally to her. She retired in 2007 after a career devoted to helping and caring for others.

That same caregiving heart was at the center of Nancy's family life. She loved her children deeply and devoted much of her life to taking care of them. When they were young, some of their best memories were made camping together, and as the family grew, Nancy found new ways to enjoy those she loved. Vacations became especially meaningful, with trips to Florida, Disney, and Tennessee with her children and grandchildren. She also traveled to Florida for several years with her sister Mary, and what began as trips between sisters often grew to include other members of the family.

On June 11, 1994, Nancy married Prentice Littlejohn. Through all the different seasons of her life, home and family remained where her heart was.

Nancy enjoyed the simple things, too. She liked playing Bingo and cards, and in her later years, she could often be found passing the time playing games on her tablet. More than any particular hobby, though, Nancy enjoyed people. She had a good ear and was someone others could talk to. She listened, she cared, and she had a way of making people feel loved.

Her faith was also an important part of who Nancy was. It gave her strength through the different seasons of life and was reflected in the compassion she showed to the people around her. She believed in caring for others, loving her family well, and extending kindness wherever she could.

Those who knew Nancy will remember a woman with an exceptionally big heart. She was compassionate and kind, sweet by nature, and always ready to care for someone who needed her. Whether she was looking after a patient, raising her children, listening to someone who needed to talk, or simply enjoying time surrounded by her family, Nancy gave of herself freely. Her family can take comfort in the faith she carried and in the loving, gentle spirit she leaves behind.

She is survived by her husband, Prentice Littlejohn; her daughters, Lisa (Mike) Tangman, Shelley Miller, and Nancy (Irvin) Huss; her grandchildren, Hillary (Brock) Hudson, Madisyn (Andrew) Bellew, Haleigh Tangman, Brett Miller, Bryant (Callissa) Miller, Blake Miller, and Jacob (Kyndall) Huss; her great-grandchildren, Cole and Whitley Hudson, Kolter Bellew, Owen, Orion, Lincoln, and Chandler Miller, with one more on the way; her siblings, Gary & Della Littlejohn and Larry Littlejohn & Tammy Ellerman; her brother-in-law, Doug McIntosh; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Littlejohn & Lois Jane (Perry) Littlejohn; her stillborn daughter, Shannon Jo; her sisters & brothers-in-law, Carolyn & Wayne Goodwin, Janet & Harold Councellor, Sr. and Mary McIntosh; and her sister-in-law, Judy Littlejohn.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31st, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor David Ducommon officiating. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Robinson Free Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
