Neal R Cravens

Neal Richard Cravens passed away at 8:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at his residence in Annapolis, IL. Born in Oblong, IL on December 18, 1940, he was the son of Richard Gale Cravens and Lenora Grace Shyrock Cravens. Neal grew up in the Bend area and attended the Bend Grade School and Oblong High School. Neal married Irene Kitchen on July 29, 1960. From this union Neal had one son, Randy Ray and one daughter Tammy Sue. Neal worked for Tempco in Robinson, worked in the oil fields in Crawford County and worked for Bob Goodwin Trucking in Oblong. Neal enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting and was a NASCAR fan, a Chicago Cubs fan and loved to mow yards. Neal is survived by his daughter Tammy Songer, Newton, IL; four grandchildren Zach Songer, Robinson, Tyler Songer, Oblong, Brianna Songer, Newton, Levi Cravens, Olney; four great grandchildren, Nathan Songer, Newton, Olivia McCater, Newton, Gavin Cravens and Madison Cravens, Olney; one sister, Dolores Boyd, Vienna, IL; five brothers; Larry & Joyce Cravens, Carriere, MS, Leone & Margaret Cravens, Robinson, Jerry & Janie Cravens, Robinson, Steve & Debra Cravens, Nashville, TN, Kevin & Mary Cravens, Breeze, IL; and his companion, Dana Wells, Annapolis, IL; as well as his faithful dog, Daisy Doodle. Neal was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Randy. At Neal€™s request there will be a cremation and no funeral services. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Crawford County Spay and Neuter, Robinson Animal Shelter, Good Samaritan Hospice or Robinson Relay for Life or the donor€™s choice.
