Nelda Rae (Lankston) Purcell

Nelda Rae (Lankston) Purcell, 74 of Edgewood, IL formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at her residence. She was born April 10, 1938, the daughter of Wilbur Martin Lankston and Marjorie May Reynolds Lankston. She worked at the Robinson Shoe Factory for several years before staying home to care for her family. Nelda was a licensed babysitter, and also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to travel, crochet and knit, play bingo, spend time at various auctions and garage sales, and chew butterscotch and cinnamon disk candies. She attended the Palestine First Christian Church.Nelda married Jackie (Jack) Lee Purcell on October 23, 1954 and he preceded her death on September 26, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Pamela.She is survived by 3 daughters and son-in-law, Deanna and Tim Behrman, (Edgewood, IL), Brenda and Rusty Mitchell, (Hartford City, IN), Tonda and David Summers, (Altamont); 9 grandchildren, LeEtta (Terry) Klink, Lacey (Kenan) Aho, Larissa (Josh Grove) Bayne, Jonathan Mitchell, Lindsey (Billy) Parson, Justin (Amanda) Mitchell, Jerod Summers, Chelsay Behrman, and Rheagan Behrman; 4 great-grandchildren, Soleesa Aho, Will Parson, Jackson Mitchell, and Benjamin Klink.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. John Brand officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3rd at the funeral home.
