Neva C. McIntosh, 90, of Robinson, IL, died at 10:58 a.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born on January 14, 1927 in Robinson, the daughter of Pearle Pickett Lewis & Minnie (Dispennet) Lewis, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Lawrence McIntosh on April 10, 1948 and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Lewis (in infancy), Roscoe Butler, Don Lewis, and Raymond Lewis; by her sister, Phoebe Dudley; by her daughter, Sherry Miller; by her son, James McIntosh; and by her son-in-law, Kirk Wirey. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Wirey (Robinson, IL); by her sons-in-law, Carl Miller (Robinson, IL) and Craig Rice (Terre Haute, IN); by her daughter-in-law, Cynthia McIntosh (Springfield, IL); by her grandchildren, Amber & Ryan Kirby (Vincennes, IN), Michelle Davis (Robinson, IL), Jessica Miller (Terre Haute, IN), Tammy McIntosh (Springfield, IL), and Tommy & Erin Rice (Terre Haute, IN); by 3 great-grandchildren, Riley Kirby, Chloe Davis, and Tessa Davis; by her sister, Erma Purcell; by her sisters-in-law, Anne Lewis (Oblong, IL), Bernice Seaney (Evansville, IN); by her special nephew, Robert & Judy Dudley (Fairfax, VA); as well as several other beloved nieces and nephews. Neva dedicated her life to being a homemaker. Her home was a cheerful one: her sense of humor, aided by the sarcasm she and her husband Lawrence shared, ensured this. She spent countless hours crocheting and also made beautiful quilts for every one of her children and grandchildren. When she wasn’t busying herself crocheting or quilting, she was playing the organ, a pastime she enjoyed for much of her life. She and her family also enjoyed camping all over the region and were even members of the Lincoln Trail Campers. Late in life, she made a name for herself at the nursing home playing Bingo, and was lovingly dubbed “Neva Las Vegas” by the staff. Everyone who knew her will remember a loving, tender soul who lit up the world around her. She was, no doubt, a special person who will be missed for years to come. She was a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Robinson. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 11th at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at the Kirk Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Crawford Memorial Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association, with envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
