Norma E. Thatcher

Norma Eileen Thatcher, 89, of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Norma was born and raised in Hutsonville, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Minnie Buckner and has lived in the Hessville Section of Hammond for over 50 years. She has been a faithful member of the Hammond Church of Christ. Norma loved playing games with her grandchildren, working on her family ancestry, and reading her Bible. Norma was a thoughtful, kind, and generous person who was much loved and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.Norma married Howard F. Thatcher and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Maureen McDonald; grandsons, Mitchell and Lance McDonald; her sisters, June Buckner, Jewel Medford, Elizabeth Anderson, Pauline Dix and Frances Gower.She is survived by her children and their spouses, Diane (Jeff) Jones, Leo, IN, Don (Arlene) Thatcher, Lowell, IN, Carol (Gene) Layton, Martinsville, Colleen (Tom) Cains, Highland, IN; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Christine Jones, Greg (Carrie) Jones, Cheryl Reimud, Russel (Tess) Jones, Angela Berge, Brent (Bobbi) Layton, Alisha (Jason) Biernbaum, Ryan, Jason and Shawn Cains; her great grandchildren, Emalie, Caitlyn, and Brayden Jones, Andrew, Katie, Austin, and Aidan Reimund, Benjamin, Jacob, Andrew, and Isabell Layton, Lexie and Ezekiel Biernbaum; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Homes, West Union, IL, with Bill White officiating. Burial will be in the Bailiff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 4th at the funeral home.
