Norman €œChet€ Coulter, 77 of Newton, IL, died at 5:26 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham, IL. He was born October 18, 1934 in Oblong, IL, the son of Byrl Coulter and Bessie Parkinson Coulter. Chet served his country by being stationed in Hawaii in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for Marathon for over 20 years. After retiring, he and JoAnn traveled around America for nearly a decade. An avid hunter, he was also a big Cardinal fan.Chet married JoAnn Allen on October 13, 1961 and she survives. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathryn Coulter, Champaign; 2 sisters, Irma Coulter, Robinson and Donna Shryock, Mokena; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 sisters, Norma (in infancy), Wanda Ritchie, and Marjorie Cooper.As per his request, Chet will be cremated, with a private family service to follow. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
