Odessa Ruth Murphy

Odessa Ruth Murphy, 81 of Robinson, IL, died at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. She was born November 30, 1930 in Gadsden, AL, the daughter of Walter Hodge and Cleo Burkhardt Hodge. She worked in production at Fair-Rite and was a member of the Dayspring Full Gospel Fellowship. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed sewing, but her greatest passion was her family, particularly her grandchildren.Odessa married Elmo W. Murphy on November 19, 1955 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.She is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Gordon Vaughan, Eldorado, IL, Wanda and David Pleasant, Robinson; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Tim and Michelle Shaffer, Louisville, KY, Missy and John Moore, Benton, IL, Tony and Kate Pleasant, Charleston, IL, and Alex & Siera Pleasant, Champaign; 6 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and John McLaughlin, Jasper, AL; brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Hodge, Cullman, AL; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held following the visitation on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., with Nita Preston conducting services. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28th at the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dayspring Full Gospel Fellowship, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
