Paul E. York, 66, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Newton Care Center in Newton, IL. He was born December 16, 1950 in rural Flat Rock, IL, the son of Charles Dennis York & Madge E. (Catt) York, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Kathy Mendenhall on August 12, 1978, and she preceded him in death on March 28, 2002. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gene York, Carl York, and Charles York, Jr; by four sisters, Ruth Shorth, Mary Benson, Maxine Lawhead, and Judy York. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Rachelle & Ryan O’Dell (Robinson, IL); by two grandchildren; by his sister & brother-in-law, Linda & Steve Nale (Georgetown, IL); by his brother & sister-in-law, Joe & Bonnie York (Parkersburg, IL); by his brother-in-law, Raymond Lawhead (Elizabethtown, KY); by his sister-in-law, Linda York (Marshall, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Paul was born and raised in rural Flat Rock, the youngest of 10 children. He grew up attending Oblong schools, and went on to work for L.S. Heath & Sons, working in production for many years before retiring a few years ago. Away from work, Paul enjoyed reading westerns, and was a great fan of Louis L'Amour. He was happiest when he was left alone with a book in his hand. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15th at the Hardinville Cemetery with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. To honor his love of reading, memorials may be made to the Robinson Public Library. Memorials may also be made to HSHS Hospice, who cared for Paul as he neared the end of his life.
