Pearl 'Jr.' Matheney, 80 of Robinson, IL, died at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at his home. He was born January 2, 1928 in Robinson, the son of Pearl Matheney and Louie Ellen Prather Matheney. He was a Laborer, a member of Local #1280 for over 20 years and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He married Leona Ellen Cornwell on July 13, 1978 and she survives. He is also survived by 5 sons and their spouses, Gary Matheney, Flat Rock, Don Matheney, Flat Rock, John and Tondra Matheney, Terre Haute, IN, Scott and Christine Matheney, Auburn, NY, and Jamie and Kim Cornwell, Robinson; 3 daughters and his son-in-law, Verna and Jim Patterson, Oblong, Kristi Walker, Robinson, and Barbara Watts, Marshall; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his brother, Paul Wayne Matheney, Palestine; and 3 sisters, Mavis Grieves, Palestine, Edna Matheney Reed, Indiana, and Louellen Rich, Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Patricia Conrad; his son, Eddie Matheney; and 9 brothers and sisters, Glen Matheney, Shelby Matheney, Velda Smith, Eldridge Matheney, Lawrence Matheney, Donald Matheney, Robert Matheney, Lois Goff, and Jim Matheney.Funeral services are Thursday, July 10th at 10:30 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Brother Jack Cunningham is in charge of services. Burial is in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9th. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132 and the Amvets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes at the funeral home.
