Peggy Elaine Hall

Sep 30, 1947 — Aug 13, 2026

Peggy Elaine Hall, 78, of Robinson, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Haven of Ridgeview in Oblong. She came into the world on September 30, 1947, in Robinson, where she grew up before graduating from Robinson High School with the class of 1965. After high school, she headed to Evansville to train as a secretary. She married at nineteen, and once the children came along, they became the center of everything. Peggy soon found herself a single working mother, going wherever the work was and doing whatever it took to keep her kids provided for.

Locally, she worked at Robinson Computer Service, put in time at Pepsi, took a short stint with a contractor building the prison after Pepsi closed, and served as a secretary for TruFax. When TruFax went under, she went to work at Victor Dana. Hard as she worked, Peggy was never one to keep to herself. She gave her time to the Moose Auxiliary, the Palestine Eagles Auxiliary, the Robinson American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary, and years ago, when the family lived in Palestine, she belonged to the Junior Women's Club.

Life wasn't only work and meetings, though. When she had time to herself, Peggy loved to read. She'd pick up just about anything, though she leaned toward fiction and counted Debbie Macomber among her favorites, with the occasional autobiography mixed in. She also had an eye for Fenton glass, and she and her friend Cheryl Frost would go hunting for pieces to add to her collection. Though most of these were bought at auctions, most of her deal-finding came by way of garage sales. Every weekend, she would peruse through one sale after another, not chasing anything in particular, but just for the pleasure of the hunt.

However, some of her favorite times were the ones spent with everyone together. For years, weekends belonged to their cabin on the river, and the good times out there ran together into one long stretch of fish fries and warm evenings. Her husband Joe caught the fish, Peggy made the sides, and tunes from the 60s and 70s played on while everyone gathered around the fire pit. Friends and family, good food, and the river close by—that was about all anyone needed.

Peggy married Joe Hall on December 22, 1998, and life carried them south year after year. The two of them wintered in Harlingen, TX, for fifteen years, trading the Illinois cold for the warmth of the season down south. Back home, Peggy poured herself into her granddaughters. She crafted with them, baked cookies with them, and put together holiday projects with them. It didn't much matter what they were doing so long as they were doing it together. And it wasn't only her own grandchildren she poured into. When she married Joe, his grandkids became hers too, and she never treated them as anything less. To Peggy, they were all simply hers. No line drawn, no difference made.

That way of loving—freely and without conditions—was simply who Peggy was. She was kind and soft-hearted, giving by nature, and she'd help anyone who needed it without being asked twice. She spent her life providing, giving, and making memories with the people who mattered, and she leaves those memories behind for everyone lucky enough to share them with her.

Peggy is survived by her son, Robert S. Minnick of Waco, TX; her daughter, Melissa (Patrick) Sanders of Robinson, IL; her step-daughters, Melissa Hall (Dr. Benjamin Chiu) of Kokomo, IN, and Michelle Hall of Robinson, IL; her grandchildren, Alison (Alexander) Wright, Paige Sanders, Donovan Chiu, Dawson Chiu, Jackson Chiu, and Chase Dugan; her great-grandson, Griffin Wright; and her brother, Larry Albert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hall, who passed away on March 28, 2013; and by her parents, Leonard and Geneva Albert.
