Phillip Wesley, 76, of Chatham, IL passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 22, 2017. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Dorothy Wesley. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen (Higgins) Wesley; his three children, Paul Wesley of Chatham, Ellen Wesley of Chatham, Jenny (Blaine) Wesley Rohan of Wetumpka, AL; brothers, Richard (Gaythel) Wesley, John (Barbara) Wesley and sister, Linda Kennedy, all of Flat Rock, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Lois Hockman of Charleston, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Phil retired from the Village of Chatham after 29 years of service, and previously was a section lineman for Western Union Telegraph Company. Phil loved the outdoors, fishing, traveling, studying maps and visiting with family and friends. He especially enjoyed going to the Wildlife Sanctuary of Chatham. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Phil’s family will greet friends, Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. A visitation will also be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Goodwine Funeral Home, 303 E. Main St., Robinson, IL, 62454. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Charlottesville Cemetery (rural Birds, IL). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL, 62711.
